Company History
Vince Choppy and his wife Anne founded V. M.
Choppy & Sons in their Voorheesville garage in 1978 when Vince began welding together
wood-burning stoves for his friends and neighbors. Two years and 200
stoves later, the business expanded to include aftermarket auto body
panels and sheet-metal animal feeders.
Today V. M. Choppy & Sons employs more
than thirty fabricators, welders, and craftsmen in a 30,000 square-foot
plant on Van Buren Street in South Troy.
When asked the secret of their success, Vince
and Anne point to “hard
work and a commitment to customer relationships.” Vince feels
he has consistently shown clients how to improve product solutions in a more cost-effective way with improved quality. “This is the value-added
component that keeps customers coming back and referring others.”
Vince and Anne’s two sons, Vincent J.
(Vinny) and Matthew J. (Matt), have been active in the family sheet metal fabrication business
since adolescence. Vinny handles estimating and purchasing, and
Matt is the plant maintenance, shipping, and receiving supervisor.
